RFX production staff have successfully achieved a Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management.

The course covers key management functions including:

• Solving Problems and Making Decisions

• Understanding Change in the Workplace

• Planning Change in the Workplace

• Achieving Objectives Through Time Management

Further investments from RFX Limited increase their ability to make several advances this year including improvements in product design of their OS365smd DIL 14 OCXO's.

Since moving into their new manufacturing site in West Lothian, RFX now utilise a newly dedicated R&D area in conjunction with the purchase of a new Agilent Signal Source Analyzer to achieve phase noise better than -120dBc at 10Hz.

RFX's Technical Director, Steven Wilson said "Enhanced resonator design, coupled with supply filter miniaturisation, has resulted in a major enhancement in phase noise relative to package size".

RFX complete the update of the production pick and place department with the purchase of an Essemtec RO400FC reflow oven.

Essemtec state: “The temperature of the three pre-heating zones and the two peak zones along with the conveyor speed are programmable to obtain the required soldering profile. Measuring the zone temperatures in the convection airflow, directly at the height of the PCB, guarantees reproducible results. Different suggested profiles for solder and glue are already integrated in the microprocessor control. The universal mesh conveyor system is the ideal solution for productions with frequent PCB changeover.”

The reflow oven complements the capabilities of the recently installed FLX2010 pick and place machine.

Essemtec state: “The FLX2010 system is a highly flexible, precision SMD Pick and Place production machine with large component diversity. With the ability to support up to 190 feeders (L-Model: till 310) this system is specifically designed for small/mid size volumes. Integrated Intelligent feeders can be unloaded and reloaded during production, making this the ideal machine for your in-house or contract production.”

The department also utilises the Essemtec SP200 automatic solder paste system, giving the production department the tools required to deal with the most demanding requirements of the next decade. With the focus on one Swiss high precision manufacturer for the production equipment RFX increase upgrade capability and reduce service down time.
The automatic production equipment is complemented by a highly skilled and flexible work force.
