Established in 1994, RFX has evolved as a significant UK manufacturer of high frequency precision oscillators using AT cut, SC cut and IT cut quartz crystals.

From a modern high quality manufacturing facility based in Livingston, Scotland, the company produces innovative OCXO, TCXO, VCXO and PLL designs from 1MHz to 2.4GHz.

The RFX precision OCXO designs are amongst the smallest in the world with efficient use of power during warm up and operation. New smd versions and increasingly stringent specifications will evolve from an ongoing research and development programme to meet the demands of the telecommunications industry.

The company facility is approved to EN ISO9001:2000 and EN ISO14001:2004 and is seeking approval to ISO/TS 16949:2002 for automobile applications and ESA standards for satellite flight systems. Production line management are registered instructors for IPC J-STD-001 and carry out internal training and certification of all assembly personnel.

RFX operate an Investors in People programme for which it was awarded the Investors in People’ standard in the spring of 2003. At the same time, RFX Ltd. received recognition for its Technological Innovation by way of receipt of the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation.

Precision OCXO and TCXO are manufactured for the specific requirements of Stratum 3 and Stratum 3E compliant systems for 24 hour holdover and long term accuracy.

RFX phase locked TCXO designs provide very high frequency precision oscillators with extremely low jitter, typically sub 1ps. These oscillators may be designed to lock to an external or internal precision reference and use PLL techniques to produce frequencies up to 2.4GHz.

The company actively seeks partnerships with customers and suppliers to incorporate new features within the RFX design criteria and to ensure that sufficient resources are made available to meet future technical and production requirements. The company will also commit resources to design new precision oscillators to meet custom requirements for volume applications.

Applications for RFX precision oscillators include GPS Satellite Navigation Systems, Satellite Positioning Systems, Airborne Systems, Telephone Base Stations, System Networks including ATM, SDH, STM, Sonet, Wan and Lan Networks and Precision Measuring Equipment.
